A sharp spoon knife will only stay sharp if the edge is protected, we offer a great leather spoon knife sheath for the job, as well as a sheath made from recycled fire hose.

You can see a video of one of our spoon knives in use and the three common grips Robin recommends for using them here.

And whilst the spoon knives come razor sharp and ready to use eventually you will need to sharpen it yourself. This video shows the method Robin uses.

Amazing tool with the perfect bending angle and good size handle. Makes very easy the work with my spoons as it comes razor sharp and I am very happy to recommed this fantastic product to other potential buyes. I will be ordering more so soon! Sheffield steel is always the best!

  2. Jamie Mangin

I wish I would have bought this starter kit first. I own 4 spoon knives, three sloyd knives and a gransfor bruk swedish carving axe. This spoon knife is so much easier to use. It has more leverage with the longer handle and the blade allows you to use one clean finishing sweep for most bowls. The last two spoons I made required no sanding of the inside of the bowl. The knife is our new favourite. Excellent blade angle and length. The axe I have reviewed separtely but its light weight and size if perfect for spoon blanks. I now use the larger, heavier gransnfor axe to start big bowls then quickly switch to the RW axe. The lightness alllows more precision and less tiring.

I’ve got a bunch of RW knives, both right and left curved. I’m really satisfied with them and i highly recomend buying their tools to every craftsman/woman!

  4. Nick Clark

Bought this to complete my set of Robin and Jo Jo’s tools. All tools are really well made and arrive ready for action. The speed of service leaves others way behind, package was in post as soon as I looked round!

  5. Paul Nicholls

Amazing piece of carving kit. Very popular so out of stock fast! Highly recommended – slices through wood and very easy to use. The larger style handle makes for more grip manipulation and the blade is very sharp. An essential spoon carving purchase!

  6. Lindy Wilhardt

Good and fast service. Fantastic tool to work with. Keeps an edge for ages. The best i’ve used so far.

  7. Martin

Ordered this spoon knife at 10:30 on Friday and it was delivered at 09:15 on Saturday. Excellent service.

I am relatively new to spoon carving but have been using other hook knives with varying degrees of success. This knife, however, is an excellent tool and really speeds up the process, is easy to use and provides an excellent finish. The video showing the different grips was also extremely useful. Well done.

  8. Zagcatt

Ordered Sunday night and arrived Tues. Had bought a mora version but even after hours sharpening and stropping still so hard to cut with…tore the wood … was really dissapointed…so decided to take punt on Mr woods creation. From the 1st cut, the difference was astonishing..actually made a spoon within 20 mins of unpacking it. Absolutely razor sharp! Top of left thumb also now spoon shaped;) can not fault..real genuine quality from someine who obviously cares about what he sells.

  9. Oliver

I got one of these spoon carving knives about a year ago and have been using it a fair bit

It is a really great tool and comes super sharp.

If your thinking about staring spoon carving I would really recommend going for this spoon carving knife. It’s a quality tool and reasonably priced.

Unlike many others I have seen this has a longer handle which just helps to give you more options for hand grips.

  10. Jonathan

Robin… I have to say, this knife did not disappoint! It is beautiful and arrived razor sharp. It is so enjoyable to carve with. The long handle is great and allows soo many grips to carve spoons with. I am new to spoon carving and am glad I spent the extra money on this knife that I am looking forward to using for
years. If you are thinking about buying this knife, it is 100% worth it!! I just wish you were in the US because I would have bought more if the shipping were less. Well done Robin!

  11. C Post

I have been working for a couple of months with this knife and I love it. This is my first hook knife and I’m a total beginner so I can’t compare it with other knives. The video on the different holding grips helped a lot. The blade is really sharp and I love the long handle. My hand doesn’t get tired too fast.
Thanks for making the great tool!

  12. A Caldwell

I bought this spoon knife through woodland craft supplies, I’ve been struggling carving burr kuksas, they are really tough and my hands are full of blisters. This knife has made carving so much easier, the large solid handle means I can hold it like I would a Indian crook knife, I can even get 2 hands on the handle for more power, the blade is really tough and sharp and is a pleasure to use, Thanks Robin.
