Open curve spoon knife (left handed)
£57.00
A high quality left hand spoon knife designed for use with a combined 30 years of spoon carving experience.
They are made from an excellent high alloy steel, very hard and tough so they hold an edge for a long time. They come razor sharp and ready to use. The handles are beech and around 7.5″ long, allowing for a great range of grips to be used efficiently.
The open curve spoon knife is perfect for creating a perfect smooth surface. The shallow curve of the spoon knife translates to a smooth finish on the wood. This works well for everything from carving eating spoons to finishing carved bowls.
Sheath sold separately.

A sharp spoon knife will only stay sharp if the edge is protected, we offer a great leather spoon knife sheath for the job, as well as a sheath made from recycled fire hose.
You can see a video of one of our spoon knives in use and the three common grips Robin recommends for using them here.
And whilst the spoon knives come razor sharp and ready to use eventually you will need to sharpen it yourself. This video shows the method Robin uses.

Bought this from Robin about 9 months ago now, and i’m back looking for the compound curve version now !, its one of my favourite knives for bowls and spoons and i’ve used it every week, it makes carving so easy and it comes extremely sharp and with a little stropping every hour or so, it has maintained its edge perfectly without dulling or chipping despite the abuse it has sometimes had to endure with the not so perfect cuts i have forced it through!
Amazing knife, with the perfectly shaped handle with initially i thought was too big, but actually, robin was right, and it does work with lots of different hand positions perfectly.
