  • Planing sloyd – prototype

    £65.00

One of our first prototypes of a new sloyd knife that we are developing. It is a little thicker steel than most sloyds on the market at 3.5mm, and with a 25 degree grind angle that gives it a very wide flat bevel. We find this makes it superb for creating long smooth planing cuts, something that many carvers struggle with.

  • Compound curve spoon knife (left handed)

    £57.00

A high quality left hand spoon knife designed for use with a combined 30 years of spoon carving experience.

They are made from an excellent high alloy steel, very hard and tough so they hold an edge for a long time. They come razor sharp and ready to use. The handles are beech and around 7.5″ long, allowing for a great range of grips to be used efficiently.

This compound curve left hand spoon knife design designed for versatility. The gradually tightening curve towards the end of the spoon knife blade allows you to carve most size spoons with ease, from small caddy spoons and eating spoons to larger ladles and kuksas.

  • Open curve spoon knife (left handed)

A high quality left hand spoon knife designed for use with a combined 30 years of spoon carving experience.

They are made from an excellent high alloy steel, very hard and tough so they hold an edge for a long time. They come razor sharp and ready to use. The handles are beech and around 7.5″ long, allowing for a great range of grips to be used efficiently.

The open curve spoon knife is perfect for creating a perfect smooth surface. The shallow curve of the spoon knife translates to a smooth finish on the wood. This works well for everything from carving eating spoons to finishing carved bowls.

  • left handed spoon carving blade compound curve

Compound curve spoon knife blade (left handed)

    £39.00

After many years forging my own tools I have finally started making hooks for sale. The are made from an excellent high alloy steel, very hard and tough so they hold an edge for a long time. They come razor sharp and ready to use. This is the blade only and you’ll have to make your own handle.

This is the left handed blade with a compound gradually tightening curve that I find a good all round shape for everything from shallow spoons to ladles and kuksas.

You can see a video of one of my knives in use and the three common grips I recommend for using them here

And whilst the knives come razor sharp and ready to use eventually you will need to sharpen it yourself. This video shows the method I use.

Open curve spoon knife blade (left handed)

    £39.00

This is the left handed blade with an open almost symmetrical curve. This is the type of blade I use for production spoon carving and it is great for finishing cuts on a spoon running down rather than across the grain. It is not quite so versatile as the compound curve knife though.
