After many years forging my own tools I have finally started making hooks for sale. The are made from an excellent high alloy steel, very hard and tough so they hold an edge for a long time. They come razor sharp and ready to use. This is the blade only and you’ll have to make your own handle.
This is the right handed blade with an open almost symmetrical curve. This is the blade I use for production spoon carving and it is great for finishing cuts on a spoon running down rather than across the grain. It is not quite so versatile as the compound curve knife though.
You can see a video of one of my knives in use and the three common grips I recommend for using them here
And whilst the knives come razor sharp and ready to use eventually you will need to sharpen it yourself. This video shows the method I use.

This is the left handed blade with a compound gradually tightening curve that I find a good all round shape for everything from shallow spoons to ladles and kuksas.

A well made sheath will age beautifully and protect the edge of the tool and the user for many years. These axe sheaths are made to fit the Robin Wood carving axe, we do a different one for the Woodland axe and the Large Carving axe.
They are made from top quality 5mm thick veg tanned leather made by Clayton’s, one the UK’s last traditional tanneries at Chesterfield. An extra piece of leather runs down the centre protecting the axe blade from the rivets.
Made to fit the Robin Wood carving axe.

£20.00
A wood carving knife made by Morakniv of Sweden, with a laminated steel blade and a birch wood handle. Robin and JoJo have always preferred the extra length of the longer 106 knife for their own work, but a lot of craftspeople love this smaller blade too.

A well made sheath will age beautifully and protect the edge of the tool and the user for many years. These spoon knife sheaths are made to perfectly fit all our spoon knives.
They are made from top quality leather made specially for us by Clayton’s at Chesterfield, one the UK’s last traditional tanneries. The leather is thick and tough yet incredibly flexible and supple. Quick and easy to fit yet really tight and secure when in place. A gentle push with the thumb on the seam edge unsheaths the tool safely.

A replacement axe handle made from hickory and left with a lovely textured finish, to provide grip. Supplied with a wooden wedge.
Note: each of our batches of axe heads fits slightly different in the eye, and we fit with a hydraulic press with a lot more pressure than you will be able to achieve at home. The handle will require some work to make it fit your axe perfectly.
