Our new Sheffield made axe. We hope you like them as much as we like making them.
A razor sharp axe that will do anything from felling small trees to splitting firewood, where it really excels is as a carving axe.
The weight of the head is 550g and the total weight around 720g (1lb 11oz), handle length is 12.5″ (31cm). This is a great mid-weight carving axe that most people will use easily without getting tired, yet still heavy enough to remove wood quickly.
A sharp axe will only stay sharp if the edge is protected, we offer a great leather sheath for the job.
Introducing our new & improved ‘Bushcraft axe’. Now with an extra comfy handle, and an updated fit.
The woodland axe is the perfect all-round axe. Use it for everything from splitting your firewood to warm your home, to felling trees & coppice work. You can even carve a spoon with it.
Take it with you on your adventures – it is the perfect size for carrying with you. Light enough to carry, heavy enough to fell a tree.
Sheath sold separately.
It is here! Our long awaited large carving axe. A large head with a long cutting edge, a flat grind for carving and a curvy ergonomic handle. A textured handle gives it beautiful grip in use. This heavier version of our carving axe is ideal for larger work like bowl carving, or for the stronger carver who is looking for something with a bit more power.
As with all of our tools, the natural wood materials and hand grinding means there will be some aesthetic differences in handles and finishes. One thing to be sure of is that they are sure to cut like a dream.
Sheath sold separately, or make your own if you prefer.

A well made sheath will age beautifully and protect the edge of the tool and the user for many years. These axe sheaths are made to fit the Robin Wood carving axe, we do a different one for the Woodland axe and the Large Carving axe.
They are made from top quality 5mm thick veg tanned leather made by Clayton’s, one the UK’s last traditional tanneries at Chesterfield. An extra piece of leather runs down the centre protecting the axe blade from the rivets.
Made to fit the Robin Wood carving axe.
These axe sheaths will fit both our new Woodland Axe, as well as our old style Bushcraft Axe, and our Large Carving Axe.
Made of full grain veg tanned leather from Clayton’s of Chesterfield. We make these sheaths up with strong rivets and brass press studs. They are a snug fit and will keep the sharp edge of your axe safe for many years.
As with all natural materials, the leather will vary from batch to batch.
A replacement axe handle made from hickory and left with a lovely textured finish, to provide grip. Supplied with a wooden wedge.
Note: each of our batches of axe heads fits slightly different in the eye, and we fit with a hydraulic press with a lot more pressure than you will be able to achieve at home. The handle will require some work to make it fit your axe perfectly.
