A sharp spoon knife will only stay sharp if the edge is protected, we offer a great leather spoon knife sheath for the job, as well as a sheath made from recycled fire hose.

You can see a video of one of our spoon knives in use and the three common grips Robin recommends for using them here.

And whilst the spoon knives come razor sharp and ready to use eventually you will need to sharpen it yourself. This video shows the method Robin uses.

I have had a right handed compound curve spoon knife for about 6 months. I have found it a superb tool for carving bowls. It gets into corners very nicely. The steel is first class – it keeps its edge beautifully, and the blade is quite stiff. Today I have ordered a left hand version to make life easier in some tight corners. I would recommend you have a sheath.
    P.S. I’m no relation !!

Get all 3 profiles of hook knives and you are set. I have tried so many knives and keep coming back to these! Great work and thanks for an amazing product

I picked up spoon carving 18 months ago, and received the Robin Wood compound hook a few weeks ago. My spoon bowls immediately improved with the gentle bottom curve of this hook knife.

If you are currently using a Mora 164, please do yourself a solid and get this hook knife. The Mora is wonderful, and a great deal, but this knife is what you want for wider, shallower bowls.

I use it since 3 years and can’t do a spoon without it. Handle is very nice to hold, the blade stay sharp and is easy to resharp.
    Great or perfect tools!

    Thanks from France

I received my first Robin Wood tool today in the mail, a right handed Compound Curve Spoon Knife, and I have to say I anticipated it would be a very good tool, but had no idea just how fantastic it really is! Hair-shave sharp right out of the box, and still hair-shave sharp after an hour of use. The curve itself is really perfect for shallower bowl cuts, incredibly smooth through the semi-dry black walnut I tested the knife with. Great product, incredible value.
